  • 1 approximately 15 ounce box red velvet cake mix (plus ingredients called for to make the cake: eggs, water, and oil)
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Powdered sugar (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ganache by chopping the chocolate and heating the cream until it simmers. Pour the cream over the chocolate, stir until smooth, and chill for at least 2 hours.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line muffin tins with cupcake liners.
  3. Mix the cake batter according to package instructions and fill each liner halfway.
  4. Remove the ganache from the fridge, scoop tablespoon-sized balls, and place one in each cupcake liner.
  5. Bake for 20-23 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft. Cool slightly before serving.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
