Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized ripe but firm pears (Bosc, Anjou, or Bartlett)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or vegan butter)
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash and dry the pears, then halve them lengthwise and scoop out the core with a spoon.
  2. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in a snug baking dish.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine honey, butter, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Stir until melted and smooth.
  4. Pour the honey glaze generously over each pear half and drizzle any remaining glaze over them.
  5. Add water to the bottom of the baking dish to create steam during baking. Bake for 25-35 minutes until tender.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with optional toppings like whipped cream or toasted nuts.
