  • 175 ml sugar
  • 30 ml water
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 can (397 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (400 ml) whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 180 g all-purpose flour
  • 30 g cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 60 ml milk
  • 100 g melted dark chocolate
  • 200 g pitted cherries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel by heating sugar and water in a pan until golden brown. Pour into the base of a baking dish.
  2. Blend eggs, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract until smooth for the flan mixture.
  3. Cream butter and granulated sugar, then add eggs one by one, followed by melted chocolate.
  4. Mix dry ingredients and alternate adding them with milk to the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Pour the chocolate batter over the caramel layer, scatter cherries on top, and gently pour the flan mixture over everything.
  6. Bake in a water bath at 175°C for approximately 1 hour until set. Cool completely before refrigerating.
